Overcoming Worry

Read | Psalm 37
Once we comprehend how worry undermines trust in our Father and how willing He is to remove it from us, we need to seek out ways to cooperate with Him. So let’s look at some common sources of worry that we can avoid.
One thing we can do is learn not to pay attention to the wrong people. There are many purveyors of doom and gloom all around us. I’m sure we all can think of various sources of such negative thinking, and steps we can take to avoid them, whether it’s a neighbor or newscast that plunges us into despair. We don’t have to listen to something evil just because it is making a lot of noise.
Storing up treasures on earth is another thing to avoid. The more we stockpile worldly goods, the more we are tempted to worry about what might happen to our possessions.
We will be mastered by either the material or the spiritual. The Lord put it this way: “You cannot serve God and wealth” (Matt. 6:24). To avoid serving the wrong master, we must deliberately choose to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (v. 33). This means we must willingly pursue obedience and submission to God’s ways as He conforms us to the image of Christ.
Anxiety can be overcome. Our loving heavenly Father understands the human propensity to worry. And He has promised that putting His interests first will always result in our needs being met. The more we prioritize Him, the less apprehension will have a foothold in our lives.

God is Our Reason to Rejoice

God is our source of joy. Joy as defined in the dictionary refers to the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying. God is greater than exceptionally good and His grace is abounding in abundance going beyond satisfying, it is immeasurable. If happiness is relevant to a certain event only, joy transcends any event or time, because we can draw it from God. Even in the midst of troubles we can still have joy, our thoroughgoing hope in God will help us through. We may be fraught by circumstances but still joy can fill our hearts because God is with us,  for -“the joy of the LORD is your (our) strength" -Nehemiah 8:10  and ” whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.” Proverbs 29:25

HOPE IN A STEADFAST LOVE

Lamentations 3:19-23
Good News Translation (GNT)
19   The thought of my pain, my homelessness, is bitter poison.
20    I think of it constantly, and my spirit is depressed.
21    Yet hope returns when I remember this one thing:
22    The Lord's unfailing love and mercy still continue,
23     Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.

We all have concerns, past life taunted by frustrations and decisions we regret, all these when we recall bring depression to us. Our hearts start to ache whenever we thought of future lost because of mistakes in our past that we can no longer mend. A lump in our throat suddenly forms, hard to swallow, when we know to ourselves we are liable for those misses of life.

But God never missed showing His unfailing love to us. We may have failures that continue to haunt our memories, but we also have God who wants to refresh our minds with His infinite mercy. All we need to do is fill our minds and hearts with Him, and let His faithfulness wash away our sorrows, and turn our tears to joy… because there is hope every morning as long as we live,- “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; “- Lamentations 3:22-23, and His faithfulness is greater than our pain. – “…great is thy faithfulness.”- Lamentations 3:23
